Shana L. McDanold is Assistant Manager, Cataloging, for the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL).
Shana received her MLS degree from Indiana University, Bloomington (IUB). Prior to joining Georgetown, she was the Head of the Electronic Resources & Serials Cataloging Unit at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries for 6 years.
In addition to be a certified trainer for the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) for both monographic materials and serials, she has worked on several American Library Association (ALA) committees for the Association of Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Division, the ALCTS Continuing Resources Section (CRS) and the ALCTS Cataloging and Metadata Management Section (CaMMS) and served as Secretary for the Executive Board of NASIG from 2012-2015. She has also served as the PCC Standing Committee on Automation Chair and as a PCC Policy Committee BIBCO representative. Currently, Shana serves as a member of the NISO Education Committee, as a member of the Editorial Board for the peer-reviewed journal Serials Review, published by Taylor & Francis, and is co-chair of the athlete’s Team Rescue Tails, which raises money for the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.
