Laurie Bridges

Director, AI Literacy Center & Librarian

Laurie is a humanities librarian and Director of the AI Literacy Center at Oregon State University. Her teaching and research are focused on advancing critical AI literacy. She aims to help people thoughtfully engage with GenAI, recognizing both its potential and risks. Laurie teaches a 1-credit OSU Honors College colloquium, Generative AI and Society, which explores the societal implications of emerging AI technologies. In and outside of the classroom, Laurie facilitates conversations about the ethical considerations of GenAI, including topics such as bias in training data, privacy concerns, the generation of misinformation (hallucinations), and the need for responsible AI policy and regulation. 

Laurie has over 20 years of experience at OSU Libraries. She earned a BSEd from the University of Nebraska, an MS from Oregon State University, and an MLIS from the University of Washington. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Science and Communication at the Universitat de Barcelona, where her research focuses on critical AI literacy education.
