Mary C. Francis earned her B.A. in music from Brandeis University. Graduate work in musicology at Yale led to her first job in publishing, at Yale University Press. She worked at Oxford University Press, Mayfield Publishing, and the University of California Press in various roles before being appointed Editorial Director at the University of Michigan Press. She came to Philadelphia to be Director of the University of Pennsylvania Press in the fall of 2019. She has seved in various roles at the Association of University Presses, including a stint on the Board of Directors.
