Heather Kotula, President & CEO, Access Innovations, Inc., Becomes President-Elect of SLA

Heather Kotula, president and CEO of Access Innovations, is the 2025 President-Elect of the Special Libraries Association (SLA), a 116-year-old nonprofit organization serving information professionals in more than 34 countries around the globe.
Kotula, who has been a member of the SLA Board of Directors since 2022, will serve as President in 2026 and Past President in 2027.
“I deeply appreciate the trust of SLA members who voted for me, and I look forward to continuing the important initiatives the Board has undertaken in recent years. I will be counting on all SLA members to support the Association’s sustained growth, delivery of solid value to our membership, and support of activities honoring our legacy,” Kotula said.
Kotula has been with Access Innovations since 1995. She became president and CEO in 2023 after serving as vice president of operations for a remote office in Missoula, Montana; manager of administration for marketing and sales; director of software sales and various other roles within the company.
She holds an MBA with a concentration in international finance from New Mexico State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in languages from the University of New Mexico, with studies in French, German, Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek and Spanish.
In addition to serving on the Board of the SLA, Kotula is currently a member of the marketing committee of the Society for Scholarly Publishing.
