NISO Plus 2023 Is Getting Closer! Two Weeks Left
Last Chance to Register!
The NISO Plus 2023 conference (February 14–16) is rapidly approaching, but there’s still time to register. And once again, thanks to our generous sponsors, attendance is affordable, with discounts for NISO members, students, early-career professionals, anyone unemployed or retired, and registrants from outside the top 30 countries by GDP. There are also special discounts available for groups of five or more.
With something for everyone in the information community, the NISO Plus program features timely topics and speakers (over 150 representing almost 20 different countries) from a wide range of stakeholder groups. Here are just a few highlights:
- Keynotes by three academics from around the world: David Weinberger, American author, technologist, and speaker; Caleb Kibet, bioinformatician, speaking on Open Science in Africa; and Yuko Harayama, Professor Emeritus of Tohoku University, on keeping knowledge creation an open and global enterprise
- The 2023 Miles Conrad Lecture by Dr. Safiya Umoja Noble, Professor of Gender Studies and African American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
- An entire track dedicated to metadata, including the sessions
Risks and Trust in Pursuit of a Well-functioning Persistent Identifier Infrastructure for Research
PID Innovations and Developments in Scholarly Infrastructure
Perspectives on Metadata Quality and Completeness, and
Visualizing Institutional Research Activity using Persistent Identifier Metadata
- Several sessions featuring Asia Pacific perspectives on information community issues, including
The Value Proposition for Information Standards (with a focus on APAC countries),
National PID Strategies and What They Mean for the Information Community, and
- Discussions including librarians from across a broad range of organizations (academic, industry, and public libraries, as well as library service providers) and countries (from Australia to Canada to Sweden)
Remember that at NISO Plus, the emphasis is on conversations and connections. What the speakers share in their presentations and what you have to say in the discussions following the live screenings are both equally important—and both are focused on identifying concrete needs and projects that NISO can work with the community to address. Previous conferences have resulted in new NISO initiatives, so your participation has a real impact!
