Judy Luther Named NISO Fellow at 2024 NISO Plus in Baltimore

Information Industry News

The distinction of being named as a NISO Fellow is not an honor offered every year, but only when the NISO organization wishes to accord proper recognition of an individual's lifetime of service to the information community as a whole.

Our 2024 recipient is Judy Luther of Informed Strategies, LLC. Luther has been a long-standing supporter of information standards, volunteering for several NISO committees over the years and leading a three-year effort to grow NISO’s membership. She also organized and reported on several NISO research projects, on altmetrics, research data standards activity, and, in partnership with OCLC, streamlining metadata workflow.

Luther was co-chair of the working group responsible for the Shared Electronic Resource Understanding (SERU) best practice. Published in 2008, SERU streamlines the licensing process for e-resources by outlining shared expectations and removing the need for protracted (and potentially costly) negotiations between institutions and content providers. She currently serves on NISO’s SeamlessAccess committee.

Our warmest congratulations to Judy!
